Thank you for your interest in receiving The Propane Buzz newsletter! My name is Jon Miller (jon@flashpointep.com). I am the founder and creator of The Propane Buzz and a Partner at Flashpoint Energy Partners, which is home to The Propane Buzz. These two entities are the same; The Propane Buzz is the newsletter arm of Flashpoint Energy Partners.
The Propane Buzz began in May 2013. It’s a daily newsletter that discusses important topics and aspects of the energy industry relating to propane, including how these impact propane prices and supply. We also have a daily segment on weather, sharing the two-week-extended forecast each day and the weeks three and four forecast twice a week.
We also spend a lot of time discussing harvest and winter weather forecasts, thanks to our meteorological partners at BAMWx.com, who have permitted us to share some of their information, including daily weather video updates.
There is no cost for The Propane Buzz and no catches to receive it. However, some retailers who sign up to receive The Propane Buzz never see it because their email servers block the newsletter as it comes from Constant Contact, which is the most commonly used email newsletter platform in the United States. Some businesses use mass email for less earnest pursuits, and therefore, some email servers are programmed to reject emails from Constant Contact’s servers and IP addresses.
There are a few things that you can do to make sure you don’t miss seeing Propane Buzz emails. First, you can add Constant Contact’s URL’s and IP addresses to your Safelist. Here are the URL’s and IP addresses for you (or your IT specialist) to add or to share with your Internet Service Provider (ISP):
Constant Contact URLs
If the program allows website URLs, have your contact copy the following Constant Contact URLs and add them to their safelist:
- constantcontact.com
- lp.constantcontactpages.com
- r20.rs6.net
- a.rs6.net
- rs6.net
- s3.amazon.com
- files.ctctcdn.com
- files.constantcontact.com
- files.ctctusercontent.com
Constant Contact IP Address
If the program allows IP addresses, have your contact add these Constant Contact IP Ranges to their safelist:
- 208.75.123.0/24
- 205.207.106.0/24
The formatting (CIDR notation) above signifies a range of IP addresses which is equivalent to 208.75.123.* and 205.207.106.*
Every email service provider uses a different interface from its competitors, so the steps for whitelisting an email address will vary for each. However, the concept remains the same. To whitelist an email, you need to add it to your approved contacts. Once approved, you’ll receive all future emails from that sender directly to your inbox (avoiding the dreaded spam folder altogether).
Let’s look at the step-by-step process for whitelisting emails by service providers.
Whitelisting in Gmail
Here’s how to whitelist an email in Gmail.
- Click on the settings button in the right corner of your screen, which looks like a gear.
- Select the Filtered and Blocked Addresses tab.
- Click “Create a new filter” and enter the email address or domain you wish to whitelist. Entering a single address tells Gmail you want to accept emails from a specific sender while entering a domain allows any emails from that domain to arrive in your inbox.
- Approve your changes by clicking “Create filter.” You can give Gmail more instructions for the email, such as starring or labeling those messages.
The “Filters and Blocked Addresses” tab is your starting point for whitelisting an email in Gmail.
If you’re using Gmail’s mobile app on your smartphone or tablet, you can whitelist emails by:
- Visiting your Spam or Junk folder.
- Selecting the message you want to read.
- Clicking on the “Report not spam” option.
Any future emails you receive from the sender will go directly to your primary inbox.
Whitelisting in Outlook
You can whitelist email in Outlook using these steps.
- Select the gear icon in Outlook, and choose “View all Outlook settings.”
- Choose “Mail” then “Junk mail” in the secondary menu.
- Click the “Add” button under “Safe Senders and Domains.”
- Input the email address or domain you want to whitelist.
- Click save to approve your changes.
If you’re using the Outlook mobile app, you can whitelist individual senders.
- Select the Office 365 whitelist email address you want to add to your contacts.
- Click the three dots that appear in the top right-hand corner.
- Select “Move to focused inbox.”
- A pop-up will appear. Select “Move this and all future messages” to whitelist all messages from the sender.
Whitelisting in Yahoo! Mail
Here’s how to whitelist an email in Yahoo! mail:
- Click on the Settings icon, then select “More Settings.”
- Choose Filters, then click “Add new filters.” Once there, you can type in the sender’s email address or domain name. All future emails from the sender will appear in your primary inbox.
